An enlightening video on the power of superstition (at an extreme) to control the lives of those who are ill-equipped to see the faults in their own reasoning. The cultural aspect cannot be ignored. It is difficult for people to break free of something that seems (to me) so obviously unnecessary. To a much lesser degree, the same questions that apply to the above video can be applied to those shackled by western religion and its tenets of unbreakable laws, that can condemn you to the underworld for eternity.
It is an intense video to watch, but I highly recommend it. If you are squeamish, I will warn you that there as some parts of the video that may be considered graphic. A short synopsis:
The dalits (the "untouchables") are usually the first victims of superstition in India. This film was recorded in India 2009 by the Swedish film maker Henrik Thomé. It shows how people become victims of superstition, and follows the battle against superstition during a few days.
Over 200 million people are still classified as "non-human". Superstition is the glue that makes it possible to keep this ancient tradition alive.

Come on, Konstantine, superstition doesn't kill, people kill! Are you telling me that science hasn't killed? That people with "scientific tempers" or "scientific decors" haven't killed? And what exactly is this "spirit of humanism"? I've been to their events (humanist association of Canada), and they have their ideologies, their moral codes, their rules of behavior, etc., but they're intolerance towards non-scientific or non-western world-views is rabid. I am neither for or against science or religion. They are two forms of identity that people defend and impose onto others with all the same righteous conviction. Ideologies and world-views don't kill, people kill. The question is why do people, regardless of their ideologies or world-views, kill?

Religion causes people to KILL! Science just allows them to do it more efficiently!
Science is reality. Religion is delusional!
Wake up Anonymous II. You arguments suck!
What are you talking about? My argument that people kill doesn't suck. It is a very simple and obvious statement. People kill, not science or religion. Neither science or religion are persons, they are more like tools that can be used for good or evil; religion in its ideological sense and science in its technical sense. The point I wanted to stress is that all good or evil, irrespective of worldview, depends on the person; their environment, their experiences, etc. Therefore I will judge a person based on their person, and not assume anything according to their label/identity.
Can you help me wake up? Please prove to me that science is reality and that religion is delusional? If you can't back up your statements with good arguements than, based on your response, I will assume you are just another arrogant and uncritical commentator.

Wake up and go to school if you want to be educated enough to realize that science is reality! Science proves itself everyday! The delusional people have to prove their beliefs and claims, not us! Wait, they can't???? HAHA then you can F off and crawl back into your delusional hole!
Delusionals can not prove their faith!
I want to be educated!!!
Are you a scientists? How do you define science? What are the limits of science? What do you mean that science is reality? How does science prove itself? Why don't people like you ("us!") have to prove their belifs and claims? What beliefs are talking about? What do you believe in?
Happy Canada Day!

Everything in science in real. Scientific results are published and verified by peer groups and hence are proven.
Science can not prove something does not exist - therefore the burden of proof is on the theist to prove that any of their gawds exists. They can't prove it! In fact there is absolutely zero evidence of any gawd!
You want to be educated? Then read your bibles (both of them) if you are religious to see all the BS in there and then read The God Delusion. Next watch all of Richard Dawkins videos he has produced and coming this September, his new book - The Greatest Show on Earth which he explains the evidence for evolution!!!!
I believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster!
